Christmas

This week we did alot before we left for winter break. On Monday, we took pictures for our "Christmas" theme. Wednesday, we went to the local skating arena and skated on the outdoor rink.
Thursday, our class decided to do something fun. Friday, we left school early to watch our highschool boys hockey team play in a hockey game, called the "Winter Classic".
Below are some photos that remind me of Christmas!

Things That Start with the Letter "C"

We did a number of things in Digital Photography this week. All week we have been making our own Christmas Cards. On Monday, my group and I planned ideas for our card. On Tuesday we took shots and uploaded them to the computer.
Then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we worked on designing our card.  Our substitute made us go out and take photos of things that begin with the first letter of our name. Below are the photos I took.

Nature and Originality

Last week we learnt about critiquing and biography. My blog post previous to this, I critiqued a picture I took earlier in the term. This blog post has a combination of last weeks theme and this weeks theme. Our theme last week was Nature and this weeks theme is Being Origonal.Below are a few of nature pictures I took for our Nature theme.
This week our teacher was absent so we had a substitute. We watched a film about different adventure photographers and their methods on how they capture their perfect shot. Since this weeks theme was Being Original my group and I went out and took photos for our theme. Below are my photos I took for this weeks theme.

Critique

The picture below I took in my 4th blog, In Depth &Perspective . I felt this pictutre needed some work, that's why I chose to critique this specific photo.

Subject: I would rate this photo a 2/4 because the subject isn't very clear or visible. Even though you can see her, she doesn't stand out of the rest of the image.

Background: The background deserves a 2/4 because it overpowers my subject. There's too much stuff going on in the background. It doesn't draw all your attention to the girl in the front.

Exposure: This photo is overexposed in some areas and in others underexposed. That's why I give this photo a 2.5/4. The only good source of light is in the upper right hand corner the rest of the picture is dark. It makes the subject dark and unnoticeable.

Focus: The subject in this picture is not in sharp focus and because of that she doesn't stand out. This photo is rated a 3/4. The background should be blurred out to make the subject stand out.

Fill The Frame: The frame is not filled. The subject is too far away and not large and visible. I could of cropped the image so the frame would of been filled. Since I didn't i rate this photo a 1.5/4.

Level: The horizon in this photo is perfectly level but the highway in the back isn't. This photo ranks 3.5/4 for being level.

Tryptich

This week, our class wrote our first test. It was out of 35 marks. It was based on the different careers in photography.

We didn't do much else this week because we had a four day week. We learnt what a tryptich was. A tryptich is a series of photos that gets focused on an object as you get closer. Below is my trytich.

Group Photo Shoot

We did a number of things in the past couple of weeks. We learnt alot about taking good group photos. Later in the week we went out and had a mini group photo shoot.
In class, we designed our own Code of Conduct and applyed to be a sport team photographer. We put together a newsletter for our school and sent it out Mon. Nov. 5th. We will be making a slideshow presentation of all the photos that each person in our group took.
This photo is of all my subjects in blue. They are walking on a highway. I tried to imitate the famous picture of the beatles wallking across the street but it didn't work out too good.

This photo is of my subjects walking away from me towards the bridge.

This photo is of my subjects jumping in the air. It is a replica of the High School Musical jump that they do at the end of the third movie. it is also on the cover of the first movie.

In Depth and Perspective

This week in Digital Photography we dida number of things. We got our marks back for previous assignments and went out and took pictures for Theme: In Depth and Perspective. Below are some photos that were taken by me and my partner. They are of different perspctives.
In this photo there is a little girl standing on top of a Coke can. She appears to be smaller than the Coke can. In reality she is standing several feet in the distance.
This photo is of a girl standing against a telephone pole. She appears to be half the height of the pole. In reality, she stood a great distance infront of the pole to give the illusion she is leaning on a telephone pole.
In this photo there is a tiny girl standing on a large fence. That is what the picture wants you to think. Actually, the girl is standing far behind a 2-ft fence. She looks small while the fence looks large.
